Photography is an art that has not had a great evolution in its history. Maybe the most important change has been when the color appeared in this world... but, what else? There have been an evolution in tecnology, with cameras getting better year after years, better lents, better ways to save the images... but a photo is a photo today as it was a photo a hundred years ago.
The Lytro could change everything. It could be a real evolution in the photography's, world because it put us in front of images where the subject to put on focus is decided by the watcher instead of by the photographer that got the shot. That's it! The Lytro camera makes images that are not on focus... we could decide what to put on focus and what not to... and change mind, and change the way the picture will show itself... again and again, and again... and with a simple click.
How it works:
...Lytro lets you take pictures like never before. Unlike a conventional camera that captures a single plane of light, the Lytro camera captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space......Since you'll capture the color, intensity, and direction of all the light, you can experience the first major light field capability - focusing after the fact. Focus and re-focus, anywhere in the picture. You can refocus your pictures at anytime, after the fact. And focusing after the fact, means no auto-focus motor. No auto-focus motor means no shutter delay. So, capture the moment you meant to capture not the one a shutter-delayed camera captured for you...
If you click here, you can see what I'm talking about.
It's revolutionary! The Teory that makes this camera work is not new. The Mit was working on it since 1992 but... today, the tecnology is at the high to have it in a product with affordable prices. And the Lytro is the first one camera working with this tecnology (and I hope it will not be the only one).
